October 21...UPDATE: Thanks to you, The American Red Cross got 78 units of blood!! Our goal was 70, so, "Well Done!!" The next one is scheduled for the Friday before going home for the holidays - December 16th. We would love to set a goal of 100 units - that will mean Red Cross will send more people, more equipment and 2 trucks!
Students must be 16 to donate and will need parent consent on the Red Cross Form; 17 and 18 year olds do not need parent consent. Girls have to weigh at least 110 lbs.
One of the Red Cross workers shared that they LOVE to come to Northside. She often uses us as an example to other schools they serve, because the students are very well behaved and the setting is organized.
"THANK YOU" NHS student donors, HOSA volunteers and Mrs Joanne Hill for a very successful Blood Drive!
(Original Story): The Red Cross Blood Drive will be busy on Friday as 100 NHS students have signed up to donate the "Gift of Life!"
"Thank You" to our students who have volunteered to donate for others, whether it be their first time or a repeat donor!
The Blood Drive will be set up in the Commons Area from 7:30am-1:00 pm. Students will be contacted at their respective sign-up times.

NOVEMBER: The Monarch Football Team took a break from their studies and visited Carolina Forest Elementary School Thursday to add more bodies to their Yellow Ribbon and visit with the students.
CFE was attempting to make the "World's Largest Yellow Ribbon"-2400 people in their support of the Month of the Military Family.
The student-athletes really enjoyed meeting the elementary students as the picture shows.
CFE's Principal wrote: "Thanks so much for bringing the football players to CFE yesterday to participate in the yellow ribbon event. As you can see in this photo, it meant everything to our students and community. We appreciate your support and the enthusiasm shown by your students."

"5" CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER: Can YOU Do It For Others? Each student donates "5" non-perishable food items="5" pick-up trucks of food in "5" weeks!
The NHS Student Council is beginning their community service projects. We want to make it a tradition that Northside High School takes part in the TV 12 "Share you Christmas" Food Drive.
The food raised goes to the local food banks and is used not only for Christmas meals for the needy, but to stock the food banks for natural disasters such as the recent hurricane and tornadoes.
This year's theme is "5". If we can get EVERY student to bring "5" non perishable food items, we should reach our goal of "5" pickup trucks of food. We have 5 weeks to do this.

THANK YOU Monarchs as the Red Cross usually has a shortage during the holiday season!
UPDATE: On behalf of HOSA and the American Red Cross, thank you staff and students from Northside High School for another successful blood drive. Despite it being the last day before students went home for the holidays, many students rolled up their sleeves, staff put up with all the details, teachers allowed students out of their classes, and the Red Cross left here Friday afternoon with 70 units of blood, which was our goal. Their need is great over the holidays.
